I armed myself with my black bladed sword, which I put into its sheath on my belt. Instead of my usual uniformed appearance on missions, I would be using a suit of armour I had not used in a long time.
It was similar to the suit of armour I wore during the Great War of Dreamland, only it had been forged to be thinner and lighter, but just as strong. It was black like my old suit of armour, and was composed of a cuirass, greaves, boots, gauntlets and shoulder pauldrons. Around the edges of the plates was shining steel, which defined and showed off the edges of the plates.
The helmet was a creation unlike any ever seen. It was a regular helmet similar to the suit of armour, but on the sides of the helmet were bat wing shaped pieces of blackened steel that swept backwards and gave it a demonic appearance.
To go with the armour, I put on the frayed black cape I wore during the Great War of Dreamland, which hung from the pauldrons of my armour.
I held the helmet in the crook of my arm as I emerged from my room, and Kathleen greeted me, dressed in her own suit of armour. It was the one she wore when I first met her, and she looked stunning.
"Nice look." she said, looking me over.
"For you also." I said, smirking back. I put on my helmet and brought up the faceplate so that she could see my face.
"I'm coming with you this time." she said.
"I'd rather you not. This is going to be a dangerous mission, and I don't want anything to happen to you." I said.
We talked for a while more, and after a while she convinced me to let her come with the team.
When we all rendezvoused by the entrace of the mountain base, my team was dressed in suits of heavy armour, and even Vincent wore some armour.
"Are we ready?" I asked them.
They nodded in unison.
"Then let go stop an army." I said, and led the team out of there into the darkness around the mountain base.
