I set an arrow upon the bowstring and pulled it back past my ear. I held the bow tightly in my left hand, and took careful aim at one of the soldiers in the army.
I adjusted the tilt of the bow to account for distance, and released the arrow.
It hissed through the air as it arced upwards. It came down though, and the arrowhead pierced the armour of a soldier in the middle of the army, and plunged into his chest.
He jerked violently to the left and dropped, and the entire army stopped at once. Janet was soon surrounded by her personal guards, and they started looking around frantically for the source of the arrow.
"Open fire!" I shouted, my angry, raspy voice filling the night air.
Arrows from my strike team hissed down onto the army, and a crop of soldiers fell dead. They panicked, and started putting up their shields to defend themselves.
I fired off another arrow, aiming straight down at the soldiers this time. It plunged underneath their shield wall, and the soldier it struck dropped dead.
"Fan out! Find the attackers!" Janet screamed at her army.
The soldiers at once fanned out, holding their shields above them for cover.
I fired off another arrow, and it struck the unprotected side of a soldier as he moved to climb up the side of the bank to search.
He fell down and slammed into another group of soldiers, who freaked out at the sight of their dead comrade.
As they froze, I fired off an arrow, and it struck the center soldier in the group who was fearing us attackers.
They froze in fear, and the rest of my strike team struck them down with arrows.
I had only a few arrows left, so I fired them off into the ranks of Janet's army, and backed off into the darkness away from their position.
My team followed suit and met up with me afterwards.
"I'm all out of arrows." I said.
"I think we all are." Kathleen said.
"Alright...we'll head to the King's castle now, making sure to destroy anything that will help them along the way. We'll cut down trees and block roads and do whatever else we can. We must slow their advance." I said.
They nodded in unison, and we left as quickly as we came, leaving a confused and paranoid army behind us.
