We got back to the mountain base later on that week, and the wound I had suffered dissapeared completely.
I began training new recuits after that, which brought The Order's numbers to a hundred and fifty. Luke resumed training them after he fashioned blades for them all, and when I wasn't helping him train the recuits, I was sitting outside at night with Kathleen.
One night in particular, she pleaded with me.
"Don't ever go on an undercover mission again." She said. I looked at her.
"Why not?" I asked. She rested her head on my shoulder and snuggled into my arms.
"Because I can't stand when you're not around...and I know you don't like it when I'm not around either." she said. I nodded slowly and hugged her close.
"That is true...alright. I won't go on an undercover mission again." I said. She smiled. I kissed her, and we cuddled close.
"I realize this won't be the last mission you'll have to do for The Order." she said.
"I know. With things the way they are, there will be plenty of work for The Order around here, not to mention other places. The Order should expand its ranks enough that there should be at least one command base to every three cities." I said, sharing my ideas with her about The Order.
She nodded.
We sat in silence for a few moments, before Quexos joined us.
"The recuits are learning quickly master." he said, crossing his arms as the wind blew the edges of his black cloak about.
"That is good news." I said, before sharing my ideas with him, as I had shared them with Kathleen.
"A wise plan." He said. I nodded.
With one major enemy out of the way, I was almost sure another one would take its place, and The Order would have to be there to confront it again, to bring it down before moving on to the next one.
I stared out at the dark horizon as I held Kathleen tight.
I just hoped all the violence would end soon, so the knights, masters, recuits, myself and Kathleen, as well as everyone else could enjoy peace.
