We had won a great battle, and we had only lost the three soldiers that the one creature had destroyed.
War congratulated me for devising such a successful plan, and the troopers were happy as well.
They had heard, as well as I had, that the troopers who serve under the Horsemen of the Apocalypse usually die, so they were worried, although they volunteered.
We marched north after that, pursuing the creatures across the nothernmost regions of Dreamland.
There were a few skirmishes between our scouts and the creatures, but our troopers always came back alive and with tales of the fights they had with the creatures. Their stories mad me chuckle, and then they told me to tell better tales of war, I told them all about the wars I had fought in: The Great War of Dreamland, my battles as a vigilante, my battles against the white armoured guards, my battles against the dark armoured guards, the Vampire-Human war and the war I had fought against Janet before I was killed.
They were amazed, and War chuckled at my stories.
"You sound like quite the death-bringer." War commented.
"I was. I was feared and respected all across this land, even when I became a Vampire." I said.
Death nodded.
"Sent a lot of souls to me. I know you well Marius." Death said.
We continued our pursuit, but the creatures always managed to stay several days ahead of us. It was almost annoying how they just managed to stay out of our reach, but Death insisted we pursue them nonetheless.
We eventually reached a vast frozen wasteland, that was unfamiliar even to me. Our troops had difficulty trudging through the snow, but we managed to find caves when the snow was blowing around for them to sleep in.
The caves were warm, but the troopers knew it was nothing like home. They made themselves fire and ate some of the little amount of food they had, and stayed quiet.
One of our scouts returned rather quickly one day, panting heavily.
He spun a tale about a large ice cave nearby crawling with the creatures. He estimated at least 200 000 of them, however he could've been wrong.
The next day we were stuck in the wasteland another scout returned reporting that the creatures had caught word of our presence, and were sending a rather large force to oppose us.
"I say we do what we did at the mountain pass." War suggested, and we all agreed with him.
The troopers took up defensive positions all along the opening of the cave, and us Horsemen formed a battle line ahead of them. We were ready for a fight.
We had spent too much time marching and looking for them than we had actually fighting the creatures, so every one of us, Horsemen and trooper, was itching for a fight.
And we'd surely get one.
