Vanilla

Woke up earlier than necessary, worried more than needed, drove away with the windows down, letting in a calmer air. Spent the day arranging candles, apple, pumpkin, rose-- Vanilla. After work I drove back home, but home had changed. Still mine and distantly familiar, the walls and rooms had gone Vanilla. The faces on the walls were gone, the knick-knakcs re-arranged, everything a little bit strange. The walls will be painted, furniture moved out, and my little world will have to be taken down. So tomorrow I'll start pulling, unzipping the seams and tugging at the stuffing that's filled the stitching of 19 years in a semi-square room. I'll open up the window and let it all air out; I hope the vacancy doesn't blind me. Sad to leave, happy to move, it's an aura of excitement. And to think, I was going to scrapbook today... Carrie
