Mothers, summer, and the job search

School is officially out. I am officially moved out of the dorms. Summer has officially begun. There's a lot to recap. Friday the fam came to Tempe to load up my stuff and haul it away. We had planned on dinner, but that didn't work out so well, so when I got home at 10pm, pizza was waiting for me in the warming tray. Man did it feel good to be home! Saturday evening Kris and I had a pre-mother's day celebration with his family and grandma. We arrived at her home and walked in the door and into an oven. The heat was on and it was 95 (inside and out!). So we adjusted the AC and traded attention from Sydney and the Suns game. "Bunny!" Afterwards Kris and I did some very last minute shopping for mother's day. The end of school hadn't really allowed much time for it. I asked Kris what he wanted to get his mom. He said that the angel statue by the front door had broken from a rogue basketball and it would be nice to get a new one. I said good luck finding one, especially the night before. Eleven o'clock at night there's no place else to shop except Wal Mart, so that's where we go. And low and behold, we walk in and right there by the check-out stand, sitting in neat rows with a big clearance sign above, angel statues! So we yell "score", clap hands like the dorks that we are and proceed to shop around the store with an angel tucked under Kris' arm. Never in a million years would I buy the statue for myself or any one else, but for his mom, it was perfect. My mom, on the other hand, I had to think about. I debated between a few things, but crunched on pennies, I opted for some DVDs that we can hopefully enjoy together. : ) Sunday was church, lunch (Karen liked her angel statue, but then tripped on the way out of the restaurant, thus dropping the bag and breaking the angel...Kristen I guess bought two more later that day to replace it), and then over to Jackie and Tim's. We didn't do much there. Sat around, watched movies, napped (some of us). Then around 5 we went to dinner. Dad and grandma got lost getting to the restaurant from Tim and Jackie's, but dinner was nice. We talked about New York and how cute Mackenzie is and stuff like that. Monday I tried to apply for a job at the resort by my house but they didn't have any positions available that I could apply for. Lame. So Kris and I spent the day taking care of business, swimming, and working on our tans. That night we met Trav at Goldies (where else?) to watch the Suns game. Incredible finish by the Suns. They rocked the Spurs in the last five minutes. Anyway, it was really fun to watch at a sports bar, enjoying Goldie's finest burgers. Afterwards, Kris and I went bowling and ran into some friends from high school, including Steve, whom I've been planning and failing to get together with for the longest time now. So that was pretty cool. I also bowled one of my best games in the longest time; 120. I intend to beat it when we go again next Monday night for the Monday night special. : D Such dorks! Today Red is in the shop for AC and a jittering steering wheel. Kris got a hair cut so he'll stop complaining and dad and grandma are going to the casino tonight, so it's just the three of us, which will be pretty cool. I'm even thinking about cooking dinner. When the sun begins to set Kris and I are going out to take some photos and then we can begin doing damage on the pile of movies we rented/purchased. Anyway, that's about everything, shying away from the specifics. I'll try to be more connected as the summer progresses. For now, toodles, and wish me luck on the job search... Carrie
