I thought that after my math course and California, I would be bored and without any stress or projects at all. On the contrary, I find myself yet again under the gun, but all in good fun. Dean Kalahan asked Leah for a CV vet to write an article about the LLC (learning and living community) for the Cronkite Magazine. And, in turn, Leah offered it to me. Of course I accepted and told her I would have a rough draft for her Friday, but unfortunately it's been quite a busy week! Mostly I've just been caught up in errands and requests from mom. She's been doing her decorating shopping this week and has needed my car to fit everything. Yesterday was dad's birthday--56!--so we all went out to dinner. Anyway, I've really only had one night to begin writing anything (I had to do some research and interviews, too) so now it's crunch time. Got to get writing. A thought before I close: About a year ago, back in 91st Lane and when grandma was still living in PA, she articulated numerous times how very much she wanted a dog like Cody to keep her company. And, for a breif time, I thought that maybe we would give Cody to her, knowing very well that you can't just go buy a puppy and expect it to be the perfect companion, house-trained and the whole bit. But mom and dad didn't want to give him up. He was, after all, my dad's "son" and mom loved him a lot too. Well, here we are, all together in one big house with grandma on one end and us on the other and guess where Cody now resides? With grandma. I just thought it ironic, how the idea came up in the past and how things worked out on their own. I have to admit that I am selfishly bothered by it. It rubs me the wrong way when he rushes in to say a quick hello and then runs immediately back to grandma's side. But I have to remind my self that they are good companions for each other and it's probably just as well that they are taking care of each other. Carrie
