Spring Break Going By

It's been a while since I've updated. It would just figure that the internet at home would be down while I'm there. So now I'm in Tempe, in my quiet room in the deserted dorm. No one is here except for men in uniforms making lots of noise as they hammer and trim. I had a frightening moment on Tuesday when I came back to Tempe and went out to get my car. I walked all five flights of stairs to discover an empting parking lot. I freaked for a moment and then backtracked down a level to where some people were working. "Uh, excuse me," I began hopefully, "Do you know what they did with the cars that were up here?" "Uh, yeah..." one guy thought a moment and pointed down the street, "I think they towed them in that lot over there." I walked to the edge and saw Red sitting peacefully in the lot. *Phew*! I knew they were going to be doing work on the parking structure, but they didn't really tell us to move our cars or where to park them on Friday. Anyway, here it is Thursday. Yesterday was nice. I finished a book, tried to burn the band camp DVD (it needs 24 hours to burn and apparantly shut down last night while i was sleeping). Grandma, dad and I even sat down together and played some good rounds of Uno. You know they changed the cards?? Dad had to buy a new deck and they're all funky now. no words at all, just numbers. We don't much care for the new version but we still enjoyed the game. Grandmpa's spirit was surely upon us as both dad and Grandma tried to swing a few moves that just wouldn't fly--"That was a red two! You can't put a yello draw two on top of that!" Dad, surprisingly, was the big winner of the night. Darn draw fours... I saw a little bit of Kroy's soccer game on Tuesday, as I had promised I would try to do. He was happy to see me; smiled as he saw me walking onto the field. I got some photos of him and will get some more at his game today, too. Guys and Dolls opened last night which is superb news--now I will finally have my cast!!!! I'm trying to coordinate spring break rehearsals at the moment becaus, in all honesty, I'm getting a bit worried about putting this show together in a month...Thankfully I've been able to work with a few cast members but they still need work. Everyone needs work. When I'm done here I'm headed off to the second-hand stores to start collecting costumes. All in all it's been a really good spring break. Relaxed, slow, and something to look forward to all the way until the last minute. Jackie called me the other day and said "you got your wish." "What?" She, Tim and Walt went in together and bought a house in Balboa, CA--we're spending the 4th of July in Cali!! I'm so excited!! I shall have to go bathing suit shopping... I went to the coinstar machine today and turned a jar of coins into $65. That was pretty sweet. After costume shopping I'm treating myself to a venture in the mall to buy some tank tops or something. I need clothes! St. Patty's day is friday and the families are having a scrumptious dinner Saturday night, so that's something to look forward to. And since Kristofer doesn't have to hurry off anywhere Sunday night, he's requested a nice dinner at the DOllanders; they gladly acquiesed (sp?) his request. ~.^ Unfortunately after that commences school again for me, but oh well. At least Kristofer will be around for a week. It was so nice spending all that time with him in Flag. Oh yes, one more lovely thing...grandma stitched up my favorite jeans in the whole world--the ones with the big belt! I have my jeans back! Sooo happy! The only thing that hasn't been right about this week is that mom has been away on a business trip. Icky. Well then, that's all for now. Off to enjoy the rest of my day. : ) Carrie M. Caulfield
