He's beautiful, so very beautiful. Seventeen point three hands tall, now, four years old, by A.P.Indy and out of Spanish Parade. He's got a lovely, humongously long neck, and these amazing long legs, which are so delicate and taper down to his dainty (and large...) hooves. He's reddish bay. And it's hard to keep weight on him, sometimes, because he's such a typey Thoroughbred and burns everything off we put on. He gets fed three times a day, every meal is two scoops of pellets, two scoops of beet pulp, plus all of his oils and vitamins and minerals and stuff. He has a heart on his forehead, and it has a string that attaches to a little snip on his nose. (we were going to show him as "Heart on a String", but decided it made him sound like he had heart problems, or something.) He's got a very fine head, a slightly dished face with a quirk bump between his eyes for cleverness. His ears are long and dainty, finely fluted like an arab's, always peaked and swiveling around excitedly. I love his eyes. His eyes are big and dark, liquidy soft, kind and curious. His eyelashes are long long, almost like a little girl's. He's also very curious. He'll stick his nose into anything and everything new, and I have never seen him spook or shy unless some other horse in front of him does so first. If he does spook, or shy, he simply stands and proudly gazes on the object of fear, then snorts really loudly and walks right by it without batting an eyelash.
His trot is absolutely humongous. And his canter....man. He's learned to accept the bit, recently, and he's such a pretty pretty boy. He'll be a lovely hunter someday.
He colicked last year and we had to take him to Auburn for surgery, but thankfully he lived and (Oh, thankfully!) he's back to work now.
Such treasures i had in 2003, such i almost lost.
My Solo Con Te. I'm so very glad he's still here with us!
