the end of an era

To celebrate the end of most people's finals week, some of the boys from Madonna and Gregory went and bought an extremely ugly piñata, hung it on a tree on the mall, and commenced beating it. It was great. Some of the boys did major damage to the piñata, but it took a long time for them to break it open. I remember the last time I had an experience with a piñata. It wasn't fun. I think I was 6 or 7. I don't remember what was going on, but there was a piñata. When it was broken open, I somehow got smacked on the head with the stick during the surging crowd and I got my hand stepped on as I was trying to get candy. I haven't been the same since. But this time around, there were no injuries inflicted except on the piñata. People show joy in different ways, and I suppose this is how these boys decided to show theirs. I just wish I had a camera. I was sitting outside eating lunch today, and I realized just how much I'm going to miss it here. I'm going to miss the classes and the evil professors. I'm going to miss the reading and the discussion. I'm going to miss all my friends and all the people going to Rome in the fall. I won't see them for over a year. I'm going to miss my room and my view of Madonna. I'm going to miss the woods and the hill and Braniff and Hagger. I'm going to miss it all. UD is so small, it's more like a really big family than anything. An extremely opiniated and well-educated family. When I go home, no one will understand me when I talk. I haven't changed in my manners, but I've changed in my opinions and my thoughts. They have been elevated. I'm going to have to explain so much just to tell a simple story to my friends. I never thought a school would do something like this to me. I never thought my decisions would effect me like they have. Am I a better person now than I was then? That's not for me to decide. That's for my friends to talk about when I leave the room, when I'm not there. I don't think I'll ever know. But, in my opinion, I think I have changed for the good.

I love pinatas. For the New Year, my friends and I went to a Mexican Nuevo Ano party and I got to hit the pinata. It was cool. :-)
Take care, good luck with moving out and stuff!
You write beautifully, with precision and clarity.
