bitches & hoes, bitches & hoes

Word of the Day: imbricate Patrick is no longer simply gurgling and cooing, making cute little baby noises. Oh no, he's verily shouting at me. Yesterday I was on Betty and I had him in his bouncy chair next to me on the bed, and I suppose he wanted me to pay attention to him becuase he started being really loud and squeaky until I paid him some attention. He even looked kind of angry. Aw, he's growing up so fast. So the title of this entry, which references what one of the wannabe VJ's on Fuse said when she discovered she was one of the finalists, is something I thought yesterday. I was at work and Debora was at lunch when the phone rang like it does. I answered it and it was Cia-Huy [spelled wrong and pronounced 'Chow Way'], the lady who does payroll for corporate. She asked me about some reservation for the church retreat going on this weekend [the West Houston Chinese Church, which I'm sure I'll be writing about next week] which I couldn't find, and then she started asking me all these questions like how I liked working at the hotel, school and qualification stuff, how long had I been with the hotel, if I had any experience with accounting, etc, etc. If you think this sounds like a job interview, that's what I was thinking too. And as soon as I got off the phone, I mumbled, 'Bitches & hoes, bitches & hoes,' after a long, deep breath. I was all like, 'I can't believe I just did a job interview over the phone during the course of regular business with someone who could actually put me in a position.' I don't know if she planned on asking me all that when she called or if it was all like 'Hey, I'm talking to that girl Ashley who Teresa likes and wants to train for Yadida's position when she goes on maternity leave, so let me ask her some questions, see how she does.' I think I did all right. But man, was I ever excited yesterday. Today, however, I discovered that corporate believes all of our recent woes to be the collective managers' faults and in coming weeks they will be 'restaffed'. I just really want Jeff, Joy, and Cyndi to stay. Everyone else I don't mind seeing go, the managers at least. I realize that's pretty mean of me to say, but it's true. I mean, Adrian won't get fired, Teresa's a nice lady but she doesn't do her job at all, Michelle is annoying and also doesn't do her job, Chris is mean, Vineta is scandelous, CJ is plain annoying, and Isabel is inconsequential. I suppose we'll see what happens in the coming weeks, with them, with me. Oh yeah, and I love JD. We get to sleep in tomorrow.
