battle of the bands

Word of the Day: onerous Jesus Christ, I hate myself sometimes. It was Aaron, Donald, George, and me who went to Matrix: Revolutions Friday night. I thought it was a really good movie with a good ending to the whole ordeal. I don't really care what anyone else says, I don't care what anyone else thinks, I thought it was perfect. And what surprised me the most was that Aaron and Donald liked the ending as well. I didn't think they would, but they did. I was only expecting good fights and Neo flying around in his coat-dress thing. I got what I wanted and even more and more. But I think I'm going to have to see it again, or maybe even a few more times, so I can understand it more. I had to watch the first two at least three or four times to understand what was going on and think about it, so it's probably going to be like that with this one. So I got home Saturday at about one, I suppose, and started reading. The neverending wave of pages and pages of reading I wanted to get done before Kate and I watched Mansfield Park for the paper we both have to write. Kate and Michelle went to the store and I...took a nap. I couldn't stop myself, I couldn't keep reading any longer. I had to give in to my desire for sleep. About an hour later the two came back and I made myself get up and do something for some time. Kate and I went to dinner at five where we were amazed and surprised at:

Battle of the Bands
Indeed, it was wonderful. I didn't even know Battle of the Bands was going on last night. So we got our dinner and sat in the cafeteria, where the battle was moved since it was raining outside, and listened to the music. We met up with Nicole and Dan, so it was an all-around good time. We listened to NoRA (and Alan doing his great cover of Jimmy Fallon's 'Idiot Boyfriend' which I had stuck in my head all night), some weird quiet rave techno stuff with was quite soothinig indeed, and the great Joes Three Johnsons, with all their Joe's and/or Johnsons (and the obligatory beginnner of it all, Joe Johnson himself). They played some Cake, some White Stripes, some Hives, some really good music. I hope they won. And I bought a shirt. I've finally achieved my goal of buying every shirt from every possible campus event in one semester. So then, about two hours later, Kate and I tore ourselves away from the music, went home, and watched the movie. On second viewing, with not having the book fresh in my mind, I decided it was really a pretty good movie. Kim and Michelle hate it because it's not anything like the book, and it's not, but that only makes it a bad movie if you're comparing it to the book. I try not to do that. Taking the movie for purely entertainment value, it's good. It's engaging and emotional, and you just want to shout at Fanny to marry Henry Crawford at last even though you know in your heart that she should marry Edmund. I figured out what scene I wanted to do, which is a start I suppose, and then at 9:30 Nicole came with Ben (!) and we, all six of us, went downstairs to the lounge to play Catchphrase, which I generally suck at. I believe that was the consensus. There were many many many funny things said, and we made Ben and Michelle play on a team together for a few rounds. Aw man, it was great fun. They need something together. Needless to say, I haven't gotten anything done this weekend. Arg. ____________________________ Oh yeah. And my car broke Friday on the way to Richardson. The alternator belt flew off. Thank goodness that happened to me before and I knew what was going on, and that I was close to school. So, I don't have a car until my parents come up for Thanksgiving and my dad can fix it, or maybe even until the end of the semester. That really really bites. Bigger arg.
