one more song

Ohmygoodness
This day began dreary and sad, just like the weather. Western Civ--discussion of Burke in the Fishbowl. That was actually rather nice. Psychology wasn't even that amazing. But Lit Trad, that's another story. So we started talking about Mansfield Park today in class, about if we like Mary Crawford or not. Dr. Baldwin read a passage from the book-- "'Among Admirals, large enough; but' with an air of grandeur, 'we know very little of the inferior ranks. Post captians may be very good sort of men, the byt do not belong to us. Of various admirals, I could tell you a great deal; of them and their flags, and the gradiation of they pay, and their bickerings and jealousies. But in general, I can assure you that they are all passed over, and all very ill used. Certainly, my home at my uncle's brought me acquanted with a circle of admirals. Of Rears, and Vices, I saw enough. Now, do not be suspecting me of a pun, I entreat.'" Mansfield Park, 57 So Baldwin asks us what we think about Mary's little pun in proper society. We all sit silent. She blatently says next: If any of you didn't catch on to it, she's talking about homosexual anal sex. --and we still sit silent, shocked those words came from little Baldwin's mouth. Whoa. That's way too much sex in English class for me to handle. I thought this was going to be the highlight of my day. I was very very wrong. The quad decided to go out to eat tonight to the Olive Garden and eat well. So we did. Fun things happened there and we wished Kim's digital camera had been working because we could have taken great pictures. Alas, it's being sent back to Canada to be fixed and we just had lots of fun (especially Michelle and her shrimp scampi--"Man, this is rich"). Many funny things happened on the way home and back in the rooms, none worthy of mention, all worthy of memory. And then, the best part of my UD career.
Oktoberfest 2003
I bought a shirt right when we got back from dinner because I wanted a hot commodity small, but they were all gone. I got a medium instead. Later on, around 10, we went over to the Mall for Oktoberfest, the general fun and merriment and partaking of alcohol (for those of age, of course). The dancing, the dancing, the dancing. I've never been so silly in my life or so sweaty. Sooooooooo sweaty. By the end of the thing people were so hot they were steaming. But it was great because all my boy obsessions were there and in close proximity. *Pat--almost conga-ed behind him, but he decided not to. *Ben--was just there all night being great. *Dan--sweaty to no end and dancing very badly, but still as entertaining as always to observe. *Gavin--Cotton Eyed Joe-ed next to him, and they do it differntly here than at home. Good differently. *Christian McGuigan--When the 'last song' was over, he walked up to the stage with his cowboy hat in the air saying, 'One more song, one more song.' A chant was duly started and the band played a final last song. *Tommy--although not an obsession, very fun to polka with during the last last song. It was sweaty, it was hot, it was humid, it was reeking of alcohol and smoke, and it was the best time I have ever had at an on-campus event. I think it was the best time I have ever had in a long time. Not ever, but really close. And I needed it more than anything else.

haha, everything we ever read in english class was about sex. except for things fall apart. that was about yams. but i'm sure there was some sex in there too. in fact, yams are probably a euphemism for sex. so yeah, everything we've read in english class is about sex.
