afloat

Word of the Day: divest Last week a transformer blew out near us. Our power went off and came right back on, but the computer stayed off. JD said something about the power regulator or whatever. So, needless to say, we would have had to buy pretty much all new parts for it. I guess JD wanted a fresh start, though, because he went to Best Buy and scoped out a Sony Vaio for only $600. Now, instead of this huge monstrosity and contant humming sound when everything else in the house is off, we have a sweet laptop with a widescreen and huge keys that make up the keyboard. And, of course, it came with Windows Vista, which I do not like in its regular form. Since the both of us don't like change too much, he made the desktop look as pre-Vista as possible. What I really don't like is Explorer. The tabs bother me. We have it at some of the computers at work, but I still don't like it. Any road, I'm glad we did our taxes really early this year. Although most of the refund went to JD's credit card bill, we did have a bit to spend on ourselves. Also, we saved a part of it to buy a Wii, but since we can't find one around, it bought half of the laptop. Somehow, though, we both still have a lot of money left, even though we have a truck payment added in. I don't know how that happened. No one's tried to cut anything off, and I pay the rent myself, so I know that's getting paid. I guess, for some reason, it's hard for me to accept that we're doing all right. I just need to close my eyes and say to myself, 'You don't always have to worry about money, you don't always have to worry about money.' We were eating dinner Sunday night when I chomped down on the side of my tongue. It hurt so so badly. And then it was swollen and difficult to talk around it. I looked in the mirror and noticed that there was a chunk of skin [or muscle or whatever] which hung off the wound. It's just about healed now, but it was very distracting the past couple of days. Since we're busier at work lately during the week, I've been able to be in the back. It sort of sucks because it's so rediculously unorganized back there that, before I do anything, I have to clean an area of the office. Politics at work are just as bad and stupid at they ever were--folks lie and gossip and generally are petty and unfocused. I wonder what it would be like to work somewhere that operates well. I mean, I know every business has its share of idiots, but at least the idiots get treated well for the work they do.
