This weekend I have three papers to start (not counting my Dante paper), and this weekend is Mallapalooza. It's like Lollapalooza, except not professional bands. It's going to be great. Out in the sun with my friends listening to bands rocking out loud with a Mallapalooza shirt over my shoulder, my sunglasses on, and a smile on my face. But just for an hour or so. Then I have to get back to writing my papers.
My friend and I had a movie night tonight. She had a really important and hard paper due today ("Who is the true hero in 'Paradise Lost'?") that she had worked on all last night and all of her free time today. She was very worn out, and so she needed something to relieve the stress. So it would make sense for us to watch a brainless, plotless movie. Oh, no, we watch "Road to Perdition". She'd seen it before and really liked it and I'd never seen it at all, so she suggested it first and a stupid movie afterward. However, we couldn't find the perfect movie to watch, so she's going to Starbuck's and I'm writing in my diary. How much fun!
I filled out a survey today for the school to find a UD type. I'm not really sure there's a UD type, though. I mean, sure there are people who would hate it here at UD (most, if not all, of my friends from high school). But I don't think there's a certain type of student that the school should seek out or pay more attention to during the recruiting season. UD doesn't have a type; it makes you into the Ud type. We have all different "types" of people at UD, but they all love it here or else they wouldn't be here. We have people from all over the country with different religions (granted, the majority are Catholic, but what can you say?) who have different interests and different personalities. But UD molds them into the type of people it produces: intelligent, independent thinkers who aren't afraid to express their beliefs and who have a classic liberal arts education while still maintaining their own personality and self-identity. It seems like I'm promoting UD, but it's not for everyone. It is only for certain type people, I guess, but the only thing that my classmates and I have in common is that we're all pretty studious and care about our educations. Throw brevity out the window.
My love went bowling tonight with his friends. He's a hell of a "bowler".
