Word of the Day: dragon's teeth
Yesterday's Word of the Day was cupidity. I miss Dr. Frank and philosophy!!!!
So I just realized that I'm starting to talk a little like JD. I was walking to get a Dr Pepper and I was mumbling 'Drinkie drinkie drinkie drinkie drinkie...' on the way, something he would very well do. I mean, you know, since we're living together, it's an easy thing to incorporate mannerisms like that, and I've noticed he's done silly things I do. I just think it's funny.
The move went well, except for all the freakin dust. I haven't felt that congested and crappy since I was on ten day, man. It was horrible--all the dust. Ech. Any road, we had Chris helping us, but he wound up slamming the ramp to the U-Haul onto his foot, probably breaking one of his toes. And we had some of JD's crazy Mexican relations helping us as well. Juan...he's great. I was all sneezing and wheezing from all the dust and stuff and he was all like, 'Are you all right? Allergic to Mexicans?' I cracked up. Like I said, tres great. And his kids are cute, too. It's always nice when family members are nice to the future wife of whomever. So we got all moved on Satuday, and then JD went to work and his mom and I got busy. I set up our room and put all the wires and cables I could find on the desk so when JD was ready all the computer stuff was there waiting for him. Our bedroom looks all set up, but the other/baby's room, not so much. We're going to eventually set everything right in there, move the couch and put the TV where it's supposed to go and put stuff in the closet [as soon as they put a bar in there], but that's not necessary now.
One of the best parts about moving is finding things you haven't seen in a long time, and on Monday after JD and I got home from Wal*Mart we found a picture of him, maybe five or six years old, at a zoo on his keyboard. He was all like, 'Ah, man, Mom found the pictures of me' and I was all like, 'Eeeee!! I want to see!' So we went through the box and saw all the big-eared, weird-haired cuteness, including the obligitory picture of him about three or something naked with cowboy boots on. I almost stole that one for myself, but I didn't. One of the worst parts about moving, however, is moving in and finding out things still don't work properly, like the stovetop, all the fire alarms, and the air conditioner, and that some things are missing, like kitchen drawers, doors to two of the three bedrooms, and the closet bar in the other bedroom. There's a maintenance guy in here now working on the stove, I think. It's kind of creepy since I'm here in my PJ's, but I guess that's my fault for sleeping till nine, or maybe it's his fault for coming so early. Whatev.
For some reason, I'm in a Third Eye Blind mood instead of my usual Bob Schnieder mood. Although I did just find out that Bob's going to play at Trees in Dallas, so I should tell Michelle and the girls to go if they can.
I'm getting used to working in the afternoons/evenings. I'm kind of liking sleeping till nine and then staying in my jammies till two, hanging out. But I'm hanging out by myself [unless you count Homeboy the Maintenance Man] because JD's at work and/or school most days. I keep telling the new people that there are benefits to working both shifts--morning, you have the managers there, there's the lunch buffet in the restaurant, you get out at three and have the rest of the day to yourself; afternoon, there's more freedom because most of the managers are gone, there's less paperwork, and you usually have to stay past going home time because the auditor is late or something, which means a little more time on the clock and a little more money in the pocket. For some reason, people from Corporate decided to have a meeting or something on our property, so they've been hanging around the past couple of days. Most of them checked out yesterday/last night, but Mr. and Mrs. Hsu, hotel franchise owners, are still there, making employees nervous. But I have this odd feeling that Mr. Hsu doesn't know anything about the hotel business and gets Mr. Grimes, annoying man extrordinaire, to make things work. Man, I want to make money that easily. I mean, not that I really can complain--I make money standing around most of the time.
wow, it's amazing the stuff life throws our way. Your stuff is pretty nice, and I am glad to hear it!
i think i definitely like it here. and yes, being sick does suck. hopefully you decongest soon... where did you move to?
