Yesterday was funny. My father needed to get his truck looked at/worked on, and so he took my mommy's car and we headed to Victoria. I thought I had to work from 8 to 1, so I got to the hotel and discovered that I didn't have to work until 5. Mommy was supposed to take my car while I was working, so thankfully she had to go to the bathroom while I found out my mistake (I copied the wrong schedule). Otherwise I'd have been stranded at the hotel all day because, of course, we don't have cell phones. Now that I think about it, though, that might have been fun. I'd have been able to walk around and see where everything is. Any road, Mommy and I had a grand time of the day. We went to Wal-Mart and Target and the mall and ate Chinese food and went to the park and read. It was really nice. We don't get many days to ourselves, so it's always good when I have time I spend with my mommy outside of the house.
I think it's just something about June that makes people want to have lots of things at hotels. This weekend, including yesterday, there's a comedy competition, a family reunion with over a hundred people, two wedding parties staying, and some sort of business meetings. Once again, a very busy weekend. I worked last night for all the crazy people checking in and I work tomorrow morning for all the crazy people checking out. I like working, it's just that when there's a whole lot of people at the desk and phones ringing it makes me nervous. I'm not that quick with the computer, nor am I very efficient, and I think I'm always annoying people who want to get checked in and go about their business. I don't mind when there are a couple of people at the desk, but not the craziness we had last night. In addition to all of the people in the dome for the competition, there was a huge, evil thunderstorm. All the people were stranded in the lobby and the dome until the rain let up. People kept coming to the desk and asking us about the weather. I'm like, "Look out the doors! It's freakin pouring, and you're asking about the weather?! I don't know how long it's going to last, I don't know anything except what I see. I check people in and out of the hotel-I'm not a weathergirl!" That's what I was thinking, but I couldn't say that. People ask us silly questions sometimes and I get annoyed easily at silly questions.
The most frightening part of working at a hotel: The scary men that constantly and brazenly flirt with you and you can't do anything but be nice.
