Word of the Day: liminal
Strange but true: JD and I are thinking about getting married at the Renaissance Festival. That would be freakin awesome. He was looking at the website for some reason the other day and there's the little advertisement for 'Special Occasions and Weddings' and I was all like, 'Hey, we should get married at the Renaissance Festival.' I can imagine that email to Laurel and Crystal--'Hey, girls, so you need to be at the Renaissance Festival early in the morning so we can all get fitted for our freakin awesome Renaissance costumes for my wedding.' I don't know anything about it and I already have all these big dreams. But that's quintessential me--dream big early on.
Speaking of Laurel, I saw her Sunday afternoon before she went up to San Marcos. I'm really glad I was able to spend some time with her. So now that I'm here and not in Irving I might get to see her a little more often when she comes home or whatever. Crystal, too, the punk, the few times she does come home. Gosh, you know, I really miss those girls, being with them and being silly, being close. I love them like sisters. I hope we're able to keep in communication in spite of all the changes that are going on with all of us.
I have an appointment next Wednesday, a week from today. I don't even know how many weeks I am. That's really sad. I'm not feeling badly or anything, thank goodness. I'm just tired a lot more than normal, but I suppose that's not such a bad thing since one of my favorite pastimes is sleeping. Ah, sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
There's a new girl at work named Nicole. She's really really really peppy. I know that's a good thing and that's probably one of the reasons why Velma hired her, but I don't know, at 8 o'clock in the morning that's a little too much pep for me. But she's a really nice girl and very friendly and quick, so I'm quite satisfied with the decision. It's actually pretty sad--there have been four managers leave in the past month at the Holiday Inn. That definitely does not reflect well on us, although it's a complete coincidence that all of them left within the space of a month. It's insane. I was talking to Ofelia, Minnie, and Cyndi in the restaurant the other day, telling them I was an English major and I wanted to write books, and they said I should write about working at the Holiday Inn. I went along with it, but then I got to thinking, I really could base a book on what goes on behind the scenes at the hotel. With my experience at the Holiday Inn and a certain Ugly Americans song as inspiration, it would be a breeze to write a bestseller and, more importantly, a good book.
Coolio.
