We lost power. Daddy went outside and tried to save the skirting from the side and front of the house, but he wasn’t going to risk getting the back until the winds change. The wind’s coming from the north, I’d say about 45 to 50 mph. It blew the back skirting off and now the wind is blowing under the house. It’s not damaging anything, but it’s making noises and rattling pipes. If it gets bad enough, we’re going to run to the shop where we know it’s safer. I’m ready—I have my shoes on and a flashlight in my back pocket. But I’m still scared. People get hurt in category I hurricanes. People can die. The walkie from the plant is saying that Formosa’s getting 75 mph winds and confirmation of an active tornado.
My heart is in my throat. I don’t know what to expect. I don’t know how to feel. I’m terrified of what could happen. The house is shaking, as well as I.
