travisto

I got a call from my friend in Germany this morning. For a few seconds there I thought it was my uncle, and when I realized it wasn't my uncle but someone else I didn't know what to do. All of a sudden it clicked in my brain--"Travis!" And I felt very silly. He told me about what he's doing and the really nice weather. He said they'll probably be sent to Iraq in a few months, but all they'll be doing is policing the cities. He thinks Iraq will turn into a Korea thing where we never leave. He's all like, "I'm not doin that!" He's sort of a hick, but a very lovable hick. I just can't picture it, my hick Travis in Germany, or, even better, my hick Tommy in Iraq. He asked me about school and how I was doing, and I asked him if he was staying busy. I'm very glad he called. I don't know the next time I'm going to be able to see him, when he's coming home next, but I can't wait to see him. I'm sure it'll be a while, and I probably won't be home when he goes home to visit, but somehow we'll see each other. Captain Peacock--"Are you free, Mr Humphries?" Mr. Humphries--"I'm free!" Oh man, I love that show.

I'm glad you got to hear from him. I have so much respect for Americans serving overseas, it takes a lot of courage.
