It’s the wind I’m most afraid of. We’re not getting a lot of rain, but the wind is nearly bending out trees in half. It’s still coming from the north-east, I think, but it’s shifting. When it’s coming from the east, things will be getting better. I’m scared it’s going to break through the house and suck us out. We’ll be blown like leaves through the sky. We’ll wind up in the frothing lake and drown. The rain’s being lashed in sheets across my view of the outdoors. Out extremities are falling apart—the roof of the porch, the gutters of the shop. This is the scariest thing short of tornado weather, and tornadoes are a possibility.
