At one o'clock it was supposed to go down.
I waited all day for this to happen. All day. I hung around the jail all morning long because it was breezy and cool and I didn't want to miss anything really big. The normal things happened. Crider tried to put his Junior Poet classes in jail, but he never stayed in for more than ten minutes. He always fought, and it was funny to watch. Jodziewitcz (Da Jodz) went from the maximum security to the minimum security without controversey, and then just walked out of minimum with his cup of coffee. Waterman-Ward made both of her Medieval Lit classes act out some battle between the Saxons and the Vikings before she went to jail.
*interlude*
As I watched the end of this battle, I suddenly saw Pat Callahan with a sheet over his shoulder and a spear in his hand. He had just gotten killed and fell to the ground. While chaos ensued around him, he cried, 'I think I'm getting better...I think I'll take a walk!' Everyone's all like, 'Could you do something about this?!' It was great.
*end of interlude*
Like I said, it was supposed to go down at one. I saw Ashley and Age walking back from Braniff, and my heart fell--he was still sick. No Father Maguire to be found. He was bedridden in the abbey, and couldn't come to entertain us with his antics. I don't know, it just doesn't seem to be Charity Week without Fr. Maguire in jail, tearing the place down. I was so disappointed.
But I did go to my first Fruit Crushing. It was great. We witnessed, live and in action, Pat Boos crushing a watermelon with his bear hands, smashing a pumpkin with his head (and bleeding because of it). It was so much fun. Someone, a freshman, asked what the hell was going on, and I guess it's a logical question since most schools don't have a group of people surrouding some guys demolishing fruit with themselves and other battle weapons. But we said it was a UD tradition, and just left it at that. Weird things happen at this school that are sometiimes better left unknown. Fruit Crushing is one of them.
Also tonight was the Male Auction. No bids for me; I'm showing off my guy at the dance tomorrow night. But it was really great. So much fun, and sooooooo many hot guys.
Drum role, please...........I got a 93 (A) on my psychology test! Yay, Ashley!!!! *doing my happy dance*
I have lots and lots and more lots of Burke to read. Aw, man, I'll be asleep in ten minutes from reading Burke.
something you said reminded me of that little story... i don't know... have a nice day!
