Word of the Day: desultory
So I got a haircut yesterday. I don't really like it. I think I got it too short, but maybe I just have to get used to it.
We also began the process of buying a car yesterday. See, this is what happens when we both have the day off and we don't have anything planned. We started off just looking at cars at different places, not dealerships, just little places. Any road, JD decided to go and visit his mother and see what they had to offer at her lot. She told us about a Toyota Corolla that we looked at, drove, and decided we didn't like. Then she took us to look at the newer cars, and we wound up actually applying for financing for a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer and actually signing the freaking papers today.
We bought a car.
We actually bought a car, a real, nice, shiney, nearly new car.
And the real miracle of all this is that somehow his mother got $1000 trade-in value for Gilgamesh. $1000?! I'm so freakin proud of him! Any road, we got financed for about $6,500, and we're going to do this all by ourselves. With the Subaru [which will be appropriately renamed], JD's mother put down quite a large down payment, so that helped us out a lot. But not with this one [yet to be named]. It's totally ours, and our responsibility. This is such a trip.
I miss Gilgamesh.
Along the same lines [spending lots of money], we bought a bigger bookshelf so that we can combine our book collections onto one shelf and give ourselves a tad more room and a travel system for Baby. That made me pretty happy. The little flying babeh up there is getting pretty close to the end of its trip, and that's really exciting.
Speaking of Baby, I went to the obstitrician on Wednesday. I felt really bad because I made JD come with me, but it wasn't anything different than what they did at the clinic. We both felt a little uncomfortable with Dr. San Miguel. It wasn't the best first meeting, so on Monday, I think I'm going to call the office and see if I can switch doctors or if it's too late. I have an appointment on Monday to pre-register at the hospital and I'm hoping JD can come with me for that, too. It should actually be something rather important instead of stupid like the appointment.
Life is progressing, and I'm getting pulled deeper and deeper.
