I went to San Antonio for the annual Drama Club trip yesterday. The Drama Club from my high school always seems to go to San Antonio for something or another for the spring trip. That's how it always was when I was in high school. And the tradition didn't end. We went to the Riverwalk. I'd forgotten how beautiful it was on the Riverwalk. It's so green and lush and everyone seems so happy sitting out in the sun by the river eating their food and talking. I've always wanted to rent a hotel room on the Riverwalk, one with a balcony and on a floor not so high up, and just sit and watch the people. There's so much you can learn while people-watching, both about yourself and about human nature. I would love to do nothing but sit on my balcony and look down on the people and try to guess who are the tourists and who are the regulars, who feels what. It's always fun when you have a few people looking down on a crowded place because then you can make up conversations. I remember I was at a Student Council summer workshop and one of my friends and I did that. We sat in the second floor lobby and looked down on the first floor lobby, picked a group of people, and started a conversation. It didn't make any sense at all and it definitely wasn't what they were really saying, but it was fun. There's just something about the Riverwalk that makes me feel like I want to stay there and fall asleep by the river. I know for certain that it didn't look like it does 50 years ago, but there's some sort of aged feeling to it that makes me comfortable. I think San Antonio is one of my favorite cities in Texas. I think I've been to San Antonio more times than most larger cities in Texas (not counting Dallas for the obvious reason that I lived there for nearly 9 months). It's just an all-around fun city with the Riverwalk and Fiesta Texas and the Spurs and UTSA. And all the people.
I also make up the conversations for them.
Sorta like "Mystery Sciene Theatre," but real life.
