Expect change but allow yourself to be surprised,
So goes the motto of my brand new compromise
As I take past criticisms and put in their place
A face
Of a girl
You've only just begun to know.
It's time to get a load of life
And tune in on the joke
Because the laughter on the street's gettin' louder
And the distance between us is gettin' longer-
It's time to understand what it's all about
And help the laughter grow stronger.
These are the crazy days of our lives
And I'm sober.
These are the times for the jives
And I'm no where.
Sick o' sayin' 'I don't know that,
haven't done that,'
And bored of singing the song of
'she's the good one.'
Influence this.
The music's getting louder and I can't help but sing and sway,
Shout and say,
'These are the crazy days of our lives,
Let me in on the jokes,
Let me in the jives.'
Open your eyes to another kind of me
And understand this is just another phase of mine.
I'm just like any other fool in this world,
Making up for lost time,
Rocovering from a dropped line,
Moving under a light to shine.
It feels good when you notice me and look at me the same way,
Understanding, repremanding, we're one and the same.
Three summers gone to this very day,
And where did I stray?
Who did I lay?
I've been at bay.
The shoreline's nice and the sand feels good,
But I'm swimming out to deep waters
Where your feet can't touch and you can't stand to stand where they can.
I'll be the good
And party with the bad,
Go out when I'm happy
And sleep when I'm sad,
Learn to be happy
And ok to be bad.
I've been lookin' in for too long,
Been wondering, and questioning,
And the outside is getting cold.
So I'm bustin' through the door
And taking a drink of "normalcy",
Don't forget the quote.
Thanks for the comment Jillie. I appreciate it.
