After editing my book report, I had to drag my mom downstairs so I could play for her the new piano melody I had discovered (everything on the piano is a discovery for me because, while I can read music, I have no clue how to play piano except in the ways I invent). Well, as it turned out, we ended up sharing that piano bench. She learned what I had memorized and I played the melody on flute and something sparked between us. And we sat and played together, tweeking and repeating, smiling, even though the song was sad. I love what I've composed--this and Miasma--but it sounds even more amazing to me to hear it being played by my mother and me. I'm going to keep working on it, because this one's for us.
