As a last minute impulse, mom decided she really did want to go see Billy Crystal in 700 Sundays, and I decided I really could squeeze it into my schedule, so I bought the tickets and we're going. Just the two of us. Dinner and a show. I'm working the desk now until 6. Then she'll be here and off we go. I even cleaned my room. Vacuumed and all. It needed though, badly. Anyway.
Lots of work to do this weekend, of course, because there is lots going on. After the show with mom, I'm going to find the theatre kids to take my part in a 24-hour play festival. Tomorrow morning at 8am we get our scripts, rehearse, memorize lines, and then perform that night at 8. Crazy. And then Sunday is a reslife program; Volleyball and BBQ at 4. Yay, fun, but oh my goodness! I have quite a bit of French that I'm hoping won't take me too long. I've been working on my composition during my two desk shifts today so I'm just about done with that, thankfully. But I have to come up with a topic for my speech class--something I want to inform an overwhelmingly testosterone room. Maybe I should go over the female body...then again, maybe not. SO there's that. I guess it's not all that much, now that I look at it. Still, like dust, work accumulates when neglected. I like that. That's going on the quote board.
Well, let's see...Kris stayed over last night, which was heaven in a shoe box. I got my French homework done miraculously and we stayed up too late playing my new favorite game, Justice League! C'est trop amusant! And I'm good at it.
I also had a floor meeting last night, which no one enjoys, but I got a little kick out of it because residents were actually complaining about other residents being noisy during quiet hours. And by noisy, they meant thudding bed knobs against walls! A little TMI, but important to know, right?
I also did a little cheesy program at the end of it. Everyone wrote on a paper circle (that my wonderful boyfriend cut for me!) their resolution or goals. Then we buried it with a lima bean in a little cup. So now they have to take care of it and watch their dreams and their plant grow! Cheesy, I know, but everyone really liked it and were excited to have something to grow. : )
OK, well, one hour down, one hour to go. I should be more productive now...
Until next time...
Carrie
