Walter Cronkite made his yearly visit to ASU this morning. I got there early to get a good seat--front row, in fact--though it didn't matter much because the sound in the room was terrible, the speakers were low and getting a lot of feedback. He didn't speak like I thought he would, but instead people stood in line at a microphone to ask questions and then Dean Callahan, sitting beside Mr. Cronkite, had to repeat the question because Mr. Cronkite doesn't hear very well. The questions weren't that great and it was hard to hear the replies, BUT I got some photos of him and a group photo with Cronkite Village. If I knew how, I would slap one on this page. It wasn't the most exciting event, but I felt honored to be near Walter Cronkite and see and hear him in person. I was slightly disappointed though when he didn't say his sign-off...
Early morning tomorrow to hear Tom Brokaw speak; lots of excitement around here; Yum, yum!
