My screensaver is a yearbook,
better than what I got the last week of school;
I don't know half the people within those pages
and I never look how I felt.
My screensaver is a slideshow,
showing my life out of order
but I know the moment.
I remember that day.
A day remembered by long hair
or short hair,
curly or straight,
by favorite sweaters
and t-shirts,
and by the pounds lost and gained.
I remember the sounds
that escaped the click of the camera
and that hot day of the parade
as we sat around and waited.
Of course I remember the dances
and most everything in a uniform,
but it's nice to see the small moments,
no make-up or occasion,
just us being us
on an ordinary day.
Those are the days so easily let go of
and the days I'm happy to see
in my screensaver yearbook.
