Sitdiary has been down for a long time, so you can only imagine my relief and excitement to finally find it up and running again.
A lot has happened since my last entry--and yet, so much has stayed the same. Living with grandma continues to be a daily battle of striving to be on her A list, mom and dad are still elapsing into mood swings of excitement and frustration, and, oh yes, the house still isn't done.
However, today is a big day for us. The inspector came last week and gave us the O-K for gas, so today Southwest Gas came and we have hot water now! No more cold showers! And hopefully this is a step towards independence from grandma--calling home every afternoon like a little kid is really getting ridiculous.
I'm officially working at DP for the summer making excellent pay and doing good work. This real estate stuff is actually pretty fun. I'm learning a lot and for the first time ever, I don't dread going to work because of the work (I only dread it when I'd rather be sleeping). Anyways, it's an awesome gig and since I've been working there on and off since I was hardly 15, I'm really comfortable there. The best part about it is that I work Mon-Fri, 8:30-5 and the pay is great. Plus, I get to see my sister and brother-in-law every day. : )
I was going to hang by myself tonight, edit my play and eat alone in the library, but then I got called to dinner in grandma's house. Had to help clean-up the kitchen. And then ended up taking grandma to the grocery store, so that pretty much killed the evening.
When my family was staying at Jayne's house I thought it was weird that none of the rooms had doors, none of the walls reached the ceiling, and wondered how in the world anyone would obtain a sense of privacy. But here I am, in a house with doors to every room, where every wall closes to the ceiling, and there is very little privacy here at all. If my room weren't on the total opposite end of the house of everyone else and with the capabilities of a lock, I'm not sure how happy I would be here. And the hall echoes so horrendously...Mom says it won't be that bad once we get things on the walls, drapes on the windows; I hope she's right.
