When I learned that anyone could speak at graduation, my hopes soared. In three graduations past, I've sat and listened to the parting words of a student I may or may not remember. I don't think there was ever a year sitting there when I didn't day-dream my own voice echoing out of the speakers. Most students won't ever consider it, many students won't think anything of it, and there will be students that will only want to yawn, but speaking at graduation was a secret goal I've had for quite some time. Yesterday was my only opportunity to obtain that goal. I had spent two weeks pondering and jotting things down at midnight, and finally came up with something that could be considered "good". So I signed up, went to the audition, and gave it my all.
And wouldn't you know it? Out of all those kids that auditioned, mine was one of three selected.
In other good and graduate-related news, today was "senior beach day", which meant going out to the practice field during lunch and getting soaked and filthy in muddy water and blow-up slides and such. Sounds gross (it was) but it was also a good time. I think the most entertaining thing there was watching the guys skate, slide, and flip over one of the slides. Anyhow, good times.
Worked again tonight, after having worked last night, and I work again tomorrow...eewwwww. I'm seeeepy! Oh well.
My internet is being so dumb. And my AIM won't connect either--is this a sign???
Mother's day is approaching...have you thought about your mother? I think I'll be hitting up the store on Friday...
