I would like to share a little bit about my week.
Today is the gallery walk; where local artists and artisans display their works in local shops. This event is put on once every 3 months or so, at the beginning of each season. It makes this small rural town feel a little bit more urban and gives us a larger sense of community and connection. It is one of the things I really look forward to, and a few friends and I have made it our tradition to go as a group. It's free, there's gorgeous artwork and usually a pretty decent spread of yummy snacks!
Knowing it is this Friday, I have been counting the days down all week in anticipation. I really really really love this event. So most of my week has been spent being excited about Friday, but the latter half of this week has just been amazingly wonderful and awesome. The weather has turned gorgeous, warm, sunny, and so the opposite of the previous weeks of snowy, rainy weather. Wednesday in particular. I went to my parents' house around 3 and my dad lent me some gardening supplies, I played with my kitties and old ol puppy, and then I went home and officially began the garden for the year. I did some weed destroying, and as I was getting ready to go to the garden shop to get some strawberry and raspberry starts, Hailey texted me asking me if I wanted to play in the sunshine. So I called her and asked her if she wanted to play in the garden with me and we ended up going to the garden store together to find the strawberries and raspberries. The store was kind of...disorganized, like not all of the berry canes were grouped together, they were all over the place so it was hard to find things. And the workers were distracted so easily it was ridiculous! And then in the check out line we got stuck behind this lady who we would think "ok NOW she's finished" and she would ask some random other question and either buy something else or just blather on with questions she could ask AFTER she had paid and let us ring up. BUT it was pretty funny so I rolled with it, also i was really excited about my strawberries and raspberries!
We finally managed to pay for everything and went back to my house and Hailey started planting my strawberries while I went to the back of the garden to plant my raspberry canes. Then I found some happily growing volunteer chives! way in the back behind my blackberry canes! so I decided that I would never find them again if I let them stay there, so I dug some of them out and replanted them closer to the strawberries. Then I helped Hailey finish planting the strawbs. it's like a miniature community garden.
Thursday I got home around 5 and pruned part of my grapes, then went to a church meeting at 7, that went until 8:20 or so. It was unfortunate that the church meeting was planned at the same time as the weekly tea meeting I usually go to, because Caleb and I were going to go see a movie at 9 with his lab and I had wanted to at least go to a little bit of Tea! Anyway I decided that in the 30 minutes or so between the meeting and the movie, I'd go to the bat house because p.h. had been saying that this would be the most ultimate tea ever. I had to find out what was ultimate! and hope that whatever it was that was ultimate had not already happened. LUCKILY it was an ongoing ultimacy and when I got there I was directed into a small room where there were 6 or 8 other people and about 400 balloons. OH MY GOD. BEST IDEA EVER. SO MUCH EASIER THAN A BALL PIT. we had so much fun pretending to model ideal gas law and throwing balloons at each others' heads. So amazing! I would be sad that I had to leave after a mere 30 minutes of cascading in the pure joy that is sharing a room with a bunch of good friends and balloons, but the movie Caleb and I went to go see was also very good. We saw "How to Tame your Dragon" and the main dragon, Toothless, was modeled exactly after Luxio. It was crazy! We loved it! So that was an amazing day, except my blood sugar was running on super low by the end of the movie as I'd had very little to eat all day...so i was kinda snappy to caleb when we went grocery shopping after the movie. :( but i did decide i like grocery shopping at 11:30; not too many people there. also they were having a serious sale on delicious cereal so we definitely partook of that.
and today was our campus' Day on the Quad and it was pretty fun. not as fun as other years but still not bad
and tonight is the gallery walk!!!!!!! in fact i'd better get a move on so i can prepare!
