12:35 Early Tuesday Afternoon (26 August 2008)   Chile Pepper Hot and Roasted So yesterday was an adventure. First day of classes. It's always boggled me why everyone shows up when half of them stop coming after two weeks anyway; it's like, why come to the least important lecture? After my soil morphology class, I gave away a pint of my nearly-useless type B+ blood, not thinking about the fact that i rode my bike to school today. My heart rate was decent at 68 bpm. my blood pressure was low. my red blood cell count was high. All this exercise is paying off. After an hour of waiting around it took maybe 4 and a half minutes for me to fill the bag. I felt pretty good, not dizzy, etc. i had orange juice and a cookie and hung out with Hailey for a while until class started. geology time. While waiting outside for class to start, a girl from chemistry club came up and started talking to me. She's in environmental emphasis and we had Soils 3000 together. Then Momo showed up, which was exciting because i'd forgotten that she was taking it. She told me she is getting married in November, and that is super exciting and i'm really glad for her! Unfortunately, the professor seems a bit asshole-y; it isnt too bad, though, because now i'm motivated to get an A in the 'that'll show him' sort of way. Personal Finance was interesting. I think i'll learn a lot of useful material AND fulfill a gen ed requirement (which is pretty much unheard of). Finally I traipsed over to my Organic Chemistry for non Science majors class and wondered if it was going to be too basic for me. Hopefully it will be fun and at least i won't have to deal with pre-med students. Dr C already has a famous quote , 'electrons...are like ninjas" And another sweet deal in that class: I have it with Meg and she is smart. yay! Then I had afternoon tea with a bunch of miscellaneous friends, which are the best kind. by that time, though, I was feeling woozy and slurring my speech and forgetting words. Damn giving blood. also it was a very hot day and i was putting off biking home for as long as possible. Finally I did get on my bike to go home, deciding that it doesn't count as the strenuous exercise the red cross warns against if i go slowly. Hahahahha. I actually made it almost the entire way home. I got halfway up the hill to my house then had to get off the bike and drag myself up the rest of the way and ditched my bike and helmet on the lawn and laid down on the cement because if i didnt i would have collapsed. my dog didn't even bark at me, so my sister didn't come outside and drag my dead butt inside. It made me so sad that i cried. after some time, i don't know how much, my heart/breathing rate had slowed enough so I could get up. i picked up my bike and helmet and rolled them into the lawn. i let the dog inside and then laid down on the rug in the living room. It was a strange feeling, having no desire or motivation to get up and do anything. My dad called me on my cell phone to let me know that he and mom were an hour out from getting home, but then asked me what was wrong and i started crying and i managed to tell him that i biked and it was hot. he told me to drink cold water and have a cold shower, or at least get in the tub. then he hung up and called my sister to make sure i did as he asked. I did, i got up and i got a cup of water and i drank it on my way to the shower. My hair was wild and my face was beet red. i took a shower in cool water and went to my room to lay on my bed and talk to Caleb. anyway the rest of the night went by slowly and I was tired and dizzy and headachy and felt sick and it was awesome. note to self: don't give blood when bicycles are the only means of transportation and you live on a steep hill. I opted out of riding my bike to school today, and got a ride with mom instead. I did some work in the lab and looked up the performances in my art symposium class that i need to get tickets for. I would normally have a lab at 10:30 until 12:30 for geology, but there are no labs on the first week of school. I had soil microbiology scheduled for 1:30 - 2:45, so I went. Judging by the classroom we were assigned, i figured it was going to be a decently large class. apparently having 3 registered students warrants a massive lecture hall. Dr S was like, it's ridiculous to lecture to 3 students, especially in a classroom of this size. in the end the decision was made that for us to receive 3 credit hours for Soil 5310, we would attend the two lecture hours of general microbiology and a third hour each week for a special topics discussion group in which we would read and discuss journal articles on soil microbiology. Anyway..it sounds really cool and my schedule has now gone from my initially being registered for 3 MWF classes and 2 T/Th classes to 5 MWF classes and 0 T/Th classes. Wednesdays are going to suck because i will have a 7 hour block with no breaks, but i'll survive. this is definitely going to be an interesting semester and hopefully i don't almost die again. hahaha.

Lol, I just noticed Chelsea's comment. Time to build a roboservant, Teresa.
I am super glad you are not dead. You crazy wonderwoman you...poo on your dog for not barking.

And any lecturer that refers to 'ninjas' would get me interested. Wheeeeeeee
even if he had barked
i wouldn't have gone and checked
