The bittersweet loneliness

My husband left me.

just for a week, of course! He's at a conference in Texas. I haven't been alone in a long time. I got a lot done. I cleaned up the clutter, I swept, I vacuumed, I did laundry....Hell, I baked cupcakes. CUPCAKES of all things. I'm out of sugar.

I wake up in the morning. I do dishes. I go to work/skiing/fun times (it's spring break and I'm lazy, what can I say?). I'm functional.

But that doesn't mean that missing him doesn't hurt like the Dickens. He better be kicking butt at this conference, making contacts and impressing higher ups and forging bonds - Lord knows he deserves to be successful, he is working so hard. 50 hour weeks. So it's not like I see him all that much anyway but to be cuddled as you drift off to sleep is an addiction with a burning withdrawal...if you know what I mean.

We were both really sick last week. On my birthday. But I was getting better and he was in the thick of the awfulness - so I went to the Owl bar & grill for a free birthday burger with two girlfriends and a girlfriend's manfriend sexfriend. Where a guy in his 50s with an Eastern European accent who was really drunk (on a Wednesday night, at a bar where they serve 3.2 beer and nothing stronger) asked us about Veganism and Vegetarianism. I thought he was probably a professor at the Uni when he started talking but his drunkenness cast doubts on my hypothesis. Not to say that a professor can't get drunk on a wednesday, just that...it is an odd place/time.

I think he was hitting on my two hot girlfriends.

my girlfriend's manfriend just laughed.

On my birthday I preordered the new pokemon game for myself. even though I haven't finished the one my husband gave me for valentine's day. ...oh well. I got $10 in Amazon credit for buying it so it was a decent deal since I shop at Amazon too much anyway. Caleb's buying me a wheel barrow and FOR REALZ garden tools in hopes that garden will be less fail this year than it was last year. lol caleb that's cute. but i'll try.

My parents ordered a spin dryer for me - my dad was excited, he wanted me to test it basically and if it works well they'll get one for themselves. That is my life in a nutshell at the moment.

p.s. Sara if you're reading this - your birthday letter to me made me cry. I love you! thank you for remembering me! *hearts hearts hearts*
