Feeling: audacious

11:30 Late Tuesday Morning (1 June 2010)

That Red Dress, that Black Dress

Friday was the Mad Tea Party at the newly purchased Art Cinema. It isn't open officially yet but the campus GLBTA did a service project to help rennovate and in return got the opportunity to host a fundraiser there. $10 entry fee per person, all you can drink hot cocoa, tea, and coffee, ala cart snacks, cucumber tea sandwiches, and two movies.

and more importantly, an opportunity to dress up and be with friends.

I was heading out to go on the daily walk with my dad's friends when we intersected paths with Ann and Thena, and then I broke off from the pack to hang out with them. Then we decided to go get ready for the party and find cute dresses and do makeup and hair and what have you, delicious girly things like this, and I really couldn't resist so I tied up with what I was doing at work and went home with them.

Ann did Thena's makeup and I did all of our hair and we looked smashing, we really did.

After the socializing we went to Thena's hot tub and hung out for a few more hours. I got home around 2:30 am.

Saturday was a pretty chill day. And by chill I mean chilly. Caleb and I biked to the farmer's market (or rather, I dragged caleb to the farmers market and there was much reluctance), where we purchased basil. and i wanted tomatoes. but caleb was kind of being a poopy butt and wanted to leave.

We biked to a 2nd hand book shop to look for Sailor Moon, and, not surprisingly, we didn't find it. I looked for other books that I had enjoyed when I read at the library and wanted in my personal collection but didn't find anything I wanted. Caleb didn't find anything he wanted either. So we biked to another local book shop only to find that it sold mostly religious stuff and music and children's toys. Book of Mormon action figures anyone? yeah, so no Sailor Moon. again, not too surprisingly. So we gave up on book shopping and decided to visit the library instead. On our way, it started raining, not a big deal, but it was raining heaps and there were huge puddles everywhere. Then it started hailing. Soft, small hail fell at first but then it got big. and hard. and painful. so we sought shelter underneath a bank's atm pavilion until the hail slowed down, and then sprinted the rest of the way to the library. it was an adventure. we were soaked.

we got out some books and went home to read them. and caleb made me sandwhiches. and it was a nice relaxing afternoon. That evening we went to my parents' house for dinner and watched "The Night of the Comet" (a 1984 zombie movie). It was a pretty awesome film. When we got back home I wrote my 5 minute graduation talk for church the next morning. It was about my degree and how it tied into psalm 8; God's calling for me, as much as I can tell anyway. Then went to bed.

Sunday the weather was nice again. went to church, gave my talk, went home. Krzptak got dropped off and we went to Lagoon for the day. It was pretty awesome. Not TOO crowded, still 15-30 minute waits at the popular rides, but shorter 5-10 minute waits at the not-as-popular rides. I like hanging out with Krzptak and it was way fun to spend the day with her. I found my new favourite ride (the kiddy version of the really tall up and down free fall ride!) and discovered the joy on some old classics like bumper cars and the swings. mmm love the swings. and of course the roller coasters! whee! This season pass thing is sweet.

Thena texted me that she wanted to watch the georgia film and update the georgia scale of snogging, so around 7 Krzptak and I drove home , got snacks, rented the movie, and went over to Thena's new apt. We ovened our frozen pizzas and ate peanut butter whoppers while we watched Georgia. We discussed old boyfriends and how innocent the scale feels now compared to when we were 15. It was really fun and girly!

Monday I felt really tired and fatigued from so much socializing over the weekend so I recuperated by hanging out with Caleb all day. it was nice. We had lunch at Happy Sushi (where there was little that I could eat now that I'm avoiding fish) and went to the mall and got thick shakes. We went home and watched the Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, which was weird. It didn't make a lot of sense, but that's probably because Heath Ledger , one of the main actors in that movie, died during production.

so that was my memorial day weekend. I didn't get a whole lot of gardening done but I think it's about time to plant my zuchs and cucs and corn. so i'll do that soon.

you didn't understand Doctor Parnassus? i loved it! i think i know why they used three other actors to play heath's part in the imaginarium; but that's only a speculation.

I am glad you found your engagement ring!

To PhD or not to PhD, that is the question.
This reminded me of those comics. Heh. Is having a kid while doing the PhD out of the question?

I am reading one of your winter entries now. How crazy is that! Congratulations on being richer by the way! Yay graduate student things!

Ps. I am sad that we never had a wedding party for you.

Ps. Did you ever finish watching Whip It?
Oh Teresa, why is your life more interesting than mine? It's nice to hear that you have the kickass neighbor who gave you plantey things, and that you have epic friends. I am going through the older entries by the way.

Why is it a shitty semester to start grad school? When did it go from 'I'll have one kid, as long as she's a girl' to 'one or two offspring'? Are you getting clucky? Because Frances thought I was, and all I did was told her about how much I enjoy YouTubbing baby polar bears. I still hate children, I swear.
