11:06 Late Wednesday Morning   Upcoming Examinations of Acquired Knowledge How much can you enjoy your job if you sigh sadly whenever the phone rings? anyway. I really want to do some bible studying with people of strong faith who can help me come to terms with my intrinsic beliefs and those words written in 'holy' scriptures. I want to wholly believe in God but I find it easier to simply say 'I believe in what Jesus said,' rather than try to reconcile the old testament and many of Paul's misogynistic letters with my beliefs of women's rights, civil rights, gay rights...human rights in general. not the exclusive rights of property-owning males. civil rights = Jesus' shtick, not Paul's or Moses' (and by extrapolation, God's) Just doing some thinking. I believe that the bible is metaphorical more than purely factual, but there are still many sections I just can't stomach. in other news, I love ginger snaps. I'm feeling good about my Soils, Marriage, and even Physics test...but i have to study hard for bio this time.

I think that that is ok. I never remember my goals for very long... I get bored with life really fast...
I'd recommend Pierced if USU has a chapter of it. It's a non-denominational Christian group that talks about Christian topics. I've never been to one of their meetings, but it would probably be a good place to go to discuss the Bible without getting the LDS church's doctrine constantly shoved in your face like you would if you chose to take Old or New Testament at the local LDS institute(I doubt that's what you want...). Just a thought.
The problem of evil always gets me too. I don't want to say I have a problem with Christianity, but I find it hard to believe with all the inconsistencies. I agree with Jesus' teachings, and I believe in a higher power, I just think it's a different way. This doesn't help you out much, but I'd say look around on campus because you might find an answer other than "its just faith!"
I also recommend these books: God? A Debate between a Christian and an Atheist - Craig and Armstrong (I think the title is self explanatory), God, Freedom, and Evil - Plantinga (he mostly deals with the problem of evil), Mere Christianity - C.S. Lewis (I haven't yet read this but I've heard good things)
blah. sorry don.t really want to talk about it.
what's your job?
