Night #10 Thursday
My last night. I finally got to be in the psychotic nightmare/black room tonight. I'm not sure that was such an upgrade. We had a lot of volunteers that night so they didn't need me anywhere else. One of the owner guys said he worked the room last night (while I was at Chaos) and he said he used a lil' flashlight to scare and to help ppl find the door. He let me use his flashlight and sadly, it was prolly the best idea for that room. I learned that ppl can get pritti stupid when going through a haunted house, and get stupider later at night understandably, but I also learned they get even more stupid when they are in the dark. If you walk into a room and you know someone is there and you don't know when or where they are going to attack you, what do you do? Some ppl literally walk in and stand in the middle of the room and stop to complain about how dark it is. Easy targets. Sometimes they walk in and pull out their cell phones... seriously? You paid that much money to use your cell phone to guide you and point out the scary parts for you? And then theres some who actually walk around the walls looking for a way out cuz they're smart.
I'd turn on the 'bug zapper' for light and they'd seriously still be looking at the distraction in the room, a fake door in the corner. A few of them were smart enough to use the light to find their way, others... not so much. When they stopped and complained it gave ample opportunity to sneak up on them and shine the light on my face right in front of theirs and scream or growl. I got a few of them good. But even being in a pitch black room for like 2 hours I still can't see good enough to find their faces and get close enough to get a perfect scare. Sometimes I got too close, sometimes I didn't get the right height and I'm screaming at their arm... Sometimes they move or turn just at the wrong time and I kinda miss 'em. It was tricky in the dark, but I got some of them pritti good.
I'd wait until they were all in the room and staring at the fake door and I'd turn on the bug zapper and some would jump and scream. I'd turn it on again to give them a chance to start looking for another door. If they never looked elsewhere in the room then I'd sneak up on them. And then go back to the zapper so they could really, look for another door, this time. Then I had an air pressure hose that I'd spray 'em with as they left. I'd actually use the air pressure when I got mad or followed. Some ppl and their phones seriously pissed me off so I'd spray them with the air. Sometimes girls would say something stupid and I'd spray them. I dunno. I didn't have much patience that last night.
But a lot of times they'd find me the corner and doing the zapper and they'd think I was like leading them out the door, but I'm....not, I'm just in the corner cuz I'm stuck there to be with the zapper. So sometimes they'd follow the wall and come after me and I'd spray them with the air to let them know they were going the wrong way. Some people figgered it out, some didn't. Ah, awkward moment they comming at me in the corner, get them away, ah, spray!
I'm not sure why but it didnt seem like a long time, maybe being in pitch black makes time go faster, or maybe cuz I couldn't see half the customers it made it seem like a lot less ppl or something. They said the line was almost all the way around the building and to Harmons at like 7:30pm. Crazy. The place was packed and I didn't even....notice. Before I knew it was 9pm and it took til like 10:30pm to get the line finished so we didn't leave our rooms til closer to 11pm.
They hurried through the meeting and all that. Then I harassed that one bitchy girl about getting a beanie I earned cuz she was leaving asap. She said "can you come morrow?" "mmm no" and "how about saturday?" "No. I'm done tonight" I had a tone with her and she was frustrated and wanted to leave so she just gave me one to get me to go away. :D Then the photographer showed me the final pictures of my Actress of the Week photo. Mine was awesome. It was black and white, the color scheme really worked. Others had a lot of color so it was hard to find a background that matched. Then I went back in to find Brian Gates. Out of all the white ppl that volunteer, the one brown man in the building, of course, seeked me out and wanted my number. He manages the Off Broadway Theatre in downtown. I worked up above him for years and never knew him til I moved to Sandy. hah. While I was waiting for make up he was coming down the hall and I yelled his name cuz its kinda find to say the full name and he came up and...kissed me on the forehead and like touched my shoulder before saying hi and bye. Kinda...weird. I knew him just as good as the girl in front me that I was talking to at the time, which wasn't good enough to ...randomly hug her without it being weird. o.O and to think I thought I could get away from this mansion with no attachments of any kind...
And with that, I grabbed all my stuffs and I drove away never to come back, at least for many months, and one friend I made texting me. It was very....relieving. I won't do a two week in a row thing next time, for sure. I'd definitely space it out throughout the season. :D I didn't even have make up on so I could go straight to bed. Wheee.
Play time!
