Feeling: dorky

L. Family Reunion July 28-31 Thurs - Sunday in North Canyon again.

Instead of having a July 24th holiday off of work I switched so I was off work this Fri before the reunion. Not sure why. Cuz I juss waited at home all day for the boy to get off work, but it was nice to be able to do my own thing..well kinda. Nobody let me sleep I ended up texting like 5 ppl at the same time all morning. And Fri was the only day I could text them and tell them whats up cuz I was losing phone signal Fri night once I got to ID. I drove down the street around 3:30 to get me a Bubble Tea and heard my car poop out again. Stupid coolant hose and this heat. Glen came out and tightened it again and bet me a dollar it wouldn't come off again. Pff. We'll see. So it was obvious I wasn't taking my car, can't leave without the boy. I think my dog was annoyed that I stayed home all day. I think he likes his alone time during the day without me or the kids. Every time he came in the house I'd get all excited and try and get him excited about camping "Don't you want to go camping! Get in the car and go for a ride!". I'm not sure if dogs can roll their eyes, but if he could Max woulda rolled his eyes like 10 times that day. He'd roll his eyes and turn around and walk back out of the house...

Anyways, the boy came home, we packed the car and left. Max figgered if he stayed in the car while we packed we might forget to get him and end up taking him with us. I was trying to tell him all day he could come. I drove most of the way. We almost died like 5 times during that like 3 hour drive. None of it was my fault by the way. The first was juss outside the Logan exit, we all going like 75mph or 80 and I think someone had a rear end tiff and another car had to swurve to avoid the rear ending and it was like 3 cars in ahead of us. It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't -right- after the trucks on ramp and we were all trying to move over to let the big semi's in. There was a car that wasn't letting me move over so I tried to fit between two semi's. I finally got space to move over and every hit their brakes. So I barely got into the other lane to avoid the semis, everyone on their brakes and me and the guy in front of me couldn't stop in that lane fast enough so we both dived back to the slow lane or something. Stopping before hitting one semi and hoping the one behind can stop fast enough too. Crazy. Then in Emigration canyon we met up with a momma deer and her two babies on the side of the road. The boy starts off saying "deer" three times. I thought he was saying "dear". So I'm like "what what what?" Turns out there was deer he wanted me to stop for. The other times were when the boy was driving and didn't see someone in his blindspot or something or juss taking stupid risks like yellow lights and sharp corners an' all.

Anyways, he got nervous in that last canyon cuz he thought I was gonna get lost and not know where to go or whatever. I knew where I was going but the directions mom kept adding on to the original note was confusing me. She said not to take the road to Soda Springs...the highway I needed to take to North Canyon was the road with Soda Springs directions on it... Whatever. But we found it before dark, around 9pm. I was racing the sunlight to find camp, I won. He got all nervous and annoyed at my driving. So by the time we got there we were kinda done with each other :P I think the dog was done too.

Got ready for the misquitoes and went out to find Gay and Doc, RaeAnn and Randy, Diana and Richard and their girls, Sheri and Sidney and their two dogs Jessi and Lucky, then Kara and Aaron, Allie and Veronica, Mike and Trish, Dustin and Sarah and their two boys. Thats about all that shows up usually anymore. No Grandpa. Diana and Richard used Gpas trailer. Raeann had hers and Doc had his. Dad brought his camper and the rest had tents. The boy slept in the tent cot again and I slept with Mum in the camper. Shoved the dog in the camper too after seeing the giant dogs that wander into camp in the middle of the night. Huge white dogs that look like wild wolves cept they had collars. Who would know the difference in the middle of the night? Max didn't really like being in the camper without being able to see me. Max didn't like the two dogs at camp that followed him around either. He was kinda scared of them cuz they are tempermental dogs.

Saturday we ate breakfast and went down to Bear Lake. No dogs allowed apparently. So we ended up going to the East beach and sneaking a dog along with us. I felt back for kicking the whole crew out of the North beach but as we passed it and saw how crowded it was and saw no parking spaces I didnt feel so bad. That lake is HIGH. So high there is no place to park! So crowded! Almost NO beach, the water goes all the way to the road. It was juss last year we had to drive off the dock to get to the water and we had beach from the dock to the road. I have never see the lake that full before. Prolly never seen that many ppl before either, but maybe it juss looked smaller with a smaller 'beach'. Even the older generations are commenting on how they've never seen it this full before. And that's saying something. It's prolly been at least 10 years since the lake's been that full. It was crazy. It seemed almost every beach on every side was full everyone trying to find a place to set up and go swimming. We ended up playing at one of the boat docks on the East beach. It didn't look...that fun. The sky was overcast, no sun, the wind was picking up, the water was cold as usual, only a dock to really play on/around, no floaties or jet skies to play with, it seemed a bit boring. So I took my dog in the area that they will allow the dog and walked around and put my feet in the water. Me, Dustin and Dad took turns being with Max. We had a lil' lunch and waited for the kids to be done. I thought it was kinda boring. I wanted to go back. We got back around 5 or something for dinner and they asked "how was the beach?" and I'm like "What beach?...there's only a lake and a bunch of ppl and illegal parking"

The boy started talking to RaeAnn about cruises and we had a nice chat most of the night about cruises. She even had a picture book we looked through. After dinner we juss sat around the fire and talked mostly. We got tired and went to bed around 11pm each night and Kara called us old. We decided to stay over til Sunday. Ma and Pa went home Saturday like they usually do. We got Dustin to stay another night too. We all played musical beds. Dustins fam took the camper, Me and the boy took Dustins tent, and Ma and Pa took Dustins car back home. It started raining Saturday night and on and off during Sunday. By Sunday I was ready to go home. The whole reunion was complaining about only having 3 or 4 days of camp instead of 5 or something. I only spent two nights and I was done. Am I so boring or what? It was kinda tiring with my dog there, always making sure he was around, trying to get him to eat, trying to find the best place for him to sleep next to me, trying to get him to stop nugging the door/tent, stop whining he'll be back in a minute. But all is fair, I pooped him out too. He's been laying down on his bed ever since we got back.

We left Sunday around 1:30 or something? We detoured over to Oneida and stopped to see the river and dam. We got to Ma's around 3pm. Then I drove the rest of the way home while he fell asleep. Mmm showers and flushing tiolets. heh Nice bed to sleep in. No whiny dog. No dirt or misquitoes to eat me. No smelling like camp fire. And more fooood.

Meanwhile, back at the home front, Mindy learned instead of her gallbladder (which they took out) causing her problems it turns out she had three stones bothering her. She went to the hospital a second time while we were camping and had those removed and she feels much better now. That has lawsuit stamped all over that one. Now she's out a gall bladder for no reason at all I believe.

And Glens dog, Candy, her stomach was bloated and she couldn't poop last I heard on Fri and I came home and Glen called me to tell me that he took Candy to the Vet ER and learned her liver kinda...exploded..or bloated...or leaked and fluid is going everywhere and there was nothing he could do for her so he had to put her down. He seemed calm on the phone, but I think he's still in shock. Those dogs are literally all that man has, his only family, and they've been around for a decade or so...so I'm sure that's gotta hurt real bad. I don't know what to do for a man who lost a dog. Max is about the same age as Candy. I thank God for Max's health even tho I totally pooped him out this weekend and he doesn't move much anymore while he recoops. I haven't seen Glen since Fri. He hasn't been leaving the house...at least not when I'm around.

It's been raining the past couple of days. I love that smell. The boy keeps calling me a geek with my glasses. He stayed at work til like 9pm Monday night. I brought him dinner. I went to the library and got more Lost series and Red Riding Hood movie. Other than that its August 2, and in about a month I'll be in CA visiting Min and the boys! This summer has gone by too fast. I want to go to Lagoon and ifly sometime this month. Think I can get that into the busy summer schedule? Yeah, me either.
