I am bored and thought I'd tell you about my painting adventures.
So it all really started in Oct 2013 when I went to the Home and Garden Expo and got a business card for a place called Painting with a Twist. I tucked that away in my purse and apparently didn't clean it out until the end of Dec. But the beginning of Nov they posted Halloween pictures on the news website and I -loved- the ideas these ppl got and sent their halloween costume pictures in. I loved the customes so much I printed them out and put them in the scrapbook that I finished up at the end of Dec. About the same time I cleaned out my purse and found this business card.
One of my favorite pictures of all time regarding Halloween costumes was a couple that did Bob Ross with an afro and his wife as the painting. They cut through some canvas and she stuck her head through and the rest of the canvas was really painted with scenic stuff Bob Ross was famous for.
So between Bob Ross being my new hero and finding this painting stuff, I thought I'd check it out. I finally got an appointment for a painting I wanted to do at the end of Jan 2014. It only took one class kids and my imagination has just sprinted. Reminds me when I was institute starved and totally sucked religion in really hard and fast in Fall 2013. My mind was starving and needed something... Took one painting and I was off buying canvas and paints and I have like 5 paintings done already and like 5 more ideas in my head to do.
I started off with a kids/dummies verison of Van Goghs Starry Night. My favorite. I wanted my own work of my favorite painter/painting. And then I did some white angel wings on a black background with a sprinkle of pink in the wings. Weee. I saw lots of ideas to attempt from the Painting with a Twist class I went to. Then I attempted to do a pokimon thing for Natalies family. They all have their favorite so I attempted to paint their faces.... That didn't work too well. I'm more of an abstract painter I suppose. I want to try scenic stuff, and black and white, and mixing/blending/shading colors! Oh, so many ideas.
Then I had picked up some bright neon pink paint. I love pink. I did a pink background and did a rough draft of the family tree I had drawn up like a year or two ago. I've had this idea for so long and I finally think I have a way to express it corrently, me and drawing dont get along.
So I originally thought about giving my mom my first painting I ever did, like almost literally the first at age 25, but then I decided, once I found my family tree idea, that I could paint the family tree for her and give it to her for Valentines Day and I could keep my very first painting. I even bought a frame, cuz everyone is so into framing things. I think canvas looks fine the way it is, but the frames were on sale and its the perfect color. I have a dark red background to an off white tree with hints of black so I bought a black frame with hints of red. Pritti. I thought it would match her kitchen really well. So I found out she is coming down this weekend so I have like 3 days to paint this and get it to her while she's here. Lets see if she receives this gift well. I know Gma is gonna look shocked and might keel over cuz she'll thinnk I have an ounce of talent.
I can paint the family tree for everyone in the family and kinda customize it for them in different colors, background colors they like if I thought any of them would have any interest in receiving such thing. We'll see what attention Mothers gets when she takes it home.
Meanwhile, I am still attempting to fix my ceiling issue a week before my warranty expires. I called a plumber this time. Yes I realize an electrician was a little silly now. Well, the plumber is like 6 feet something and juss walked up to the ceiling and poked at it, poked it hard enough his finger went thru. Great. Then he offered to cut a hole and take a peek and see if any pipes are leaking. Well, gee, no I dont want any holes in my ceiling. oy vay. You already started, might as well finish that hole! So he cut a 1x1 square out of my ceiling and looked at the pipe and no leaks. The ceiling is all dry and brittle showing there was a leak at some point but it has dried up. His theory is that the toilet overflowed a couple times and the water snuck in through the base of the toilet and went through to my ceiling and dried up and cracked.
So obviously if the it was a toilet overflow it would have caused damage to the caulking of the toilet right? So I asked him to caulk the toilet. He said the seal was fine, no leaks in the pipe or sealing of the toilet, but he re-sealed it anyway dunno why, and caulked it. I thought it would at least help if there was future toilet overflow accidents. I just dont want this to happen again after I get my ceiling fixed just to have one overflowed toilet ruin my ceiling again. I dont know if it will actually help, there was no leaks or anything wrong with it right now obviously, but hey the Warranty would pay for services whether or not I really needed it or if it will help in future overflows...
The Warranty covered all that plumbing stuff. Didnt have to pay, yay! I had called the warranty company and asked if I had to pay another 'service fee' after I had already paid the electrician for no good reason, they said I didn't. The plumber didnt believe me and fought that part until he asked his dispatcher. But I'm not sure the Warranty will cover patching up the holes in my ceiling now. I figger the ceiling is gonna need to be fixed at some point or another, might as well try and get someone else to pay for it if I'm gonna do it. There's gonna be a hole one day, either dry and crack all the way open by itself or we could just make a hole ourselves and fix it.
Juss gotta call one more guy/company hopefully and this fiasco will be over! I will call the Warranty company on Monday and see if they will cover the drywall expenses and see if they have any drywall handy mans or whatever on their list of approved service companies or however that works. If they don't pay for it, then I will just hire some handy man Doe or one of our clients at work and prolly have to pay for it out of pocket. Another 'service fee', Yay. But like I said, gotta fix it now or later, might as well get it done now (esp since there is already a 1x1 hole in my ceiling.....)
And now I know it was gonna be the toilet that was gonna fall through the ceiling and not the bathtub.... Thats much better.....
