Thursday I went to the haunt and decided to try Head in the Box. I was soo not very enuthustic about haunting that night. The day at work was sooo lonngg and boring, and a night in the haunted house usually seems soo lonngg. But I didn't want to do any physical exercise either so I juss sat in a chair all night with my head in a box.

I was a little short so I found the remains of a headstone to sit upon. I had blood all over my neck like my head was severed but it would do no good if I were too short and the head in the box started at my chin. But because I had so much blood everywhere I had something to play with. Its so sticky I got it everywhere, my pants, shoes, the box, my phone, my hair. Ew.

But the role was fairly simple. You have a swivel chair you can start your head facing the entrance of the room and swivel around the room as they walk around you. Kinda tricky when you have ppl coming in the same time as those going out, but still a freaky effect. The point being to make them think its fake at first and then show them its a real person. (Apparently the head in the box last night juss sat there and no one could tell if it was real, how boring, something to stare at and wonder) I thought it was cute how everyone goes through the house guessing what is real and what isn't. Trying to calm their minds with the truth and then quickly destroying that with somthing real. I dunno, it was fun to see and hear the "that's real" and "its not real, its not real" self talk.

I love those observant people. The ones that walk carefully and keep up with their group but still take time to take it all in. Those are the ones that notice me most. Sometimes it gets a lil' overwhelming when one person sees you and they try to get the rest of the group to come -back- and see you/the head. They'll see me when they leave I'm sure, no need to convince them to look at something scary, it'll come when they least expect it. Then theres the obnoxious ones that get in your face and have stupid remarks. Then the ones that just smile and wave. The few that actually appreciate the creativity of it and think its cool.

Overall it wasn't a bad job. The box was black enough I could text. I could hear my cue really well, not that there were that many people coming through. Sitting up straight and on an awkward headstone while trying to turn my head around with my braid getting stuck was slightly annoying and difficult, but it beats physical activity and not being able to walk or talk again for a few days. I only worked that night so I could get a free ticket for Evan to use morrow when he takes his daughter through the house.

And the only reason I worked the next day was cuz Evan was taking his daughter through the haunt because she said she wanted to go to one and cuz her bday is on Monday, Oct 24. Not so sure about her actually making it through the whole thing but at least he won't spend so much money for himself if she only gets through one level. She's cheaper being under 12 anyway.

Sooo that brings me to Thursday when I wanted to be under the bed when they came. They decided not to show up at exactly 7:30 which prolly lead to their 40 minutes in line waiting to get in. They prolly got in around 9PM and got out at 9:45pm doing only the first two levels. But man oh man was I ready for them, but noo they had to follow a big group of ppl and sneak up on me. Which lead me to jumping out at them growling before I realized there was a glow stick in her hand. Oy. I was looking for shoes, hearing for quiet ppl, and looking for little bodies. Hers was the only glow stick I did NOT see that whole night and I was looking! Its hard to see them under the bed. But thas only cuz they came up behind me and I didnt have time to watch for them. Besides she was all in black/dark blue, can't see the kid.

Evan...was weird. He would like bend over looking at me like seriously trying to see my face clearly to see if it was me or something? It looked kinda odd. When theres a monster under the bed you dont peer under there to see who it is and try to get eye contact or something and hope it doesn't jump out at you. I felt like I was being examined. But I still kinda went after Evan, he didn't have a glowstick (I suggested the Monster-be-gone for her knowing it was really for him too) so I pretended to go after him. I wanted to grab his ankles so bad but I knew he'd tattle on me or the girls on the bed would. Emily was stiff and jumped lightly, the kind of scared when you dont say anything and dont scream. I didn't think she'd last long after seeing her reaction and scared level.

I was getting my exercise. I did stretches beforehand so I wouldn't be so sore jumping up and down, but I think I pulled something while stretching. Pain from the get-go. Loonng night. I thought we would end around 10, since thas when they close, so I drank all my water and I was resting more periodically than before, but it didn't finish until 10:30 and they finally let us out. And from 10 to 10;30pm there were groups one right after another, so I knew they were like rushing but that many ppl shouldn't be let in AFTER 10pm. The doors should close and those already in should finish the house. I was kinda pissed. My second night in a row, I tried not to do that so I wouldn't get pissy and tired and achy, and now I'm getting out late, grrr. I was mad. The boy didn't get home til like after 10pm either just getting out of the house and taking emily home. But when I got home he was in a talkitive mood so I took advantage of that and listened. He doesn't do it very often esp at like 11-11:30pm at night. I feel like I haven't been home in two days and we haven't talked or anything. It was nice. A nice shower and laid in bed, on my back (cant usually sleep on my back) and I was out the whole night, didn't move the whole time, eyes never came open, nothing. I was dead to the world for like 6 hours.

Have to admit it did get some good scream tho. I should tell about some of those later.
